Harold Balazs scrapbook, 1953-1976.

The Harold Balazs scrapbook contains photocopied newspaper articles about the works of Spokane, Washington artist Harold Balazs. The articles are arranged mainly in chronological order and span the years 1953 to 1976. The scrapbook chronicles his exhibitions in various Spokane galleries, as well as his public works throughout the Pacific Northwest during that time. Most of the articles originate from the Spokesman Review, the Spokane Daily Chronicle, and the Seattle Times. The last pages of the scrapbook contain various articles about Balazs' immediate and extended family, including a page of ancestry notes.

Mr. Balazs is a noted artist, who has lived in the Spokane area for his entire professional career. He was born in Westlake, Ohio (near Cleveland) in 1928. He graduated from Washington State College, Pullman, Wash. in 1951 with a bachelors degree in Art. Following graduation, he located to Spokane to become one of the very few people in Washington state to make a living, supporting and raising a family, as a full time professional artist.
